The Position:
Reporting to the Assistant Vice-President, Public and Government Affairs (Quebec), the incumbent contributes to advancing the priorities of the life and health insurance industry in Quebec and Canada. It plays an supporting role by analyzing public policy issues, making clear recommendations and supporting the CLHIA's interventions with decision-makers and stakeholders. Working closely with the team, member companies and various external partners, she contributes to the development of positions, strategic content and advocacy initiatives that are beneficial to the industry.
This is a full-time contract to cover a maternity leave of about 14 months.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the work of member companies' committees and working groups by conducting analysis on issues and preparing content that facilitates the alignment of industry positions on key issues, including health and drug benefits, business practices and health issues.
- Ensure legislative, regulatory and media monitoring in Quebec in order to identify emerging issues, monitor the evolution of issues of interest to the industry and feed into the CLHIA's analyses, recommendations and interventions.
- Prepare key messages and briefing notes for meetings with elected officials and public servants, as well as draft clear, coherent and responsive media responses to current issues.
- Develop a solid understanding of the life and health insurance industry in Canada and use this expertise to propose courses of action, formulate recommendations and contribute to the drafting of strategic documents, such as position statements and briefs.
- Clearly present findings, issues and their impacts to different audiences, both internal and external, and prepare notes, presentations and briefing documents adapted to the needs of the interlocutors.
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders, including member companies, government officials and partners, to monitor developments and advance industry priorities.
- Actively contribute to CLHIA priorities by participating in public policy projects and initiatives that strengthen the industry's position with decision-makers and the broader public affairs ecosystem.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
- University degree or College diploma in a related field (e.g., public policy, economics, political science, public administration).
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.
- Bilingual French and English
- Knowledge of political and legislative processes, primarily as it relates to Quebec.
- Experience in financial and health services, knowledge of the life and health insurance industry and/or experience with member organizations would be an asset.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively build relationships and work collaboratively with interested parties.
- Research, analytical and problem-solving skills to understand issues affecting the life and health insurance industry.
