Established in 1894, CLHIA is a voluntary non-profit association with member companies accounting for
99 per cent of Canada’s life and health insurance business. The Association’s overall mission is
to serve its members in areas of common interest, need or concern.
The Canadian life and health insurance industry:
- Protects about 26 million Canadians.
- Makes over $58 billion a year in benefit payments to Canadians.
- Manages more than half of Canada’s pension plans.
- Invests more than $410 billion in Canada’s economy.
- Provides employment directly to more than 130,000 Canadians.
